The Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce is involved with the following on-going activities as part of their mission to link community and business:

  • Pleasantville Business Person of the Year Nominations & Event
  • Pleasantville Day
  • Fall Dinner Event
  • Fall Sales Days
  • Holiday Happenings Brochure
  • Holiday Open House
  • Holiday Sing-Along & Tree Lighting
  • Visions for Pleasantville
  • The Business Side of Pleasantville

Business Person of the Year Nominations & Event

Each year the Pleasantville business community participates in selecting the Pleasantville Business Person of the (prior) year.  The process starts in January, when all Pleasantville businesses are given an opportunity to nominate a candidate for the award.  In February, Chamber members select the winner from among the top nominees and the Business Person of the Year is announced in an invitation to a gala March event celebrating the winner that is mailed to Chamber members and other village businesses.

Sales Days

The Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce sponsored its first Fall Sales Days on October 5 and 6, 2007, during which businesses displayed sidewalk or indoor sales, or both. The Chamber sponsored advertising and promotional material in support of the event.

The Chamber also sponsors a sales event in conjunction with the May Pleasantville Day event.  Since most attendees at this event spend most of their time in Memorial Plaza, the business community suggested holding a Spring Sales Day on a date other than Pleasantville Day. The Chamber will poll the business community on their thoughts on this event.

Holiday Happenings

Every November, the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce develops a Holiday Happenings in Pleasantville brochure, which it mails to all residences and businesses with a 10570 mailing address.  The brochure invites all to shop and celebrate in Pleasantville, listing events at houses of worship, schools and the library; as well as community, civic, music and theater events.

Visions for Pleasantville

The Chamber’s Visions for Pleasantville initiative was introduced in October 2003, bringing together leaders of Pleasantville schools, local government, local businesses and community organizations to explore  ideas to further Pleasantville as a Cultural and Educational Destination, as a Business Destination and as a Community that Works.

Student Visions for Pleasantville is one of the offshoots of this effort. The organization promotes positive and active student participation in the community.  The effort is in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, Pace University and the Village of Pleasantville Recreation Department.

The Business Side of Pleasantville

On the fourth Wednesday of most months, the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce hosts a panel discussion on "Doing Business in Pleasantville." The panel consists of 2-4 Chamber members (different each month) who are invited to talk about their business concepts, marketing strategies, challenges and successes.  A general discussion with the audience follows.  Some of these programs are filmed and aired on PCTV.
